More about Czech sick pay calculator

Sick pay under Czech law

This calculator follows the Czech rules for employees in 2026. An illness has two parts. For the first 14 calendar days the employer pays wage compensation, but only for the shifts you would have worked: 60 % of the average hourly earnings after reduction, times the hours of each missed shift. From day 15 the social security administration pays the sickness benefit for every calendar day, weekends included.

The benefit is based on the daily assessment base, which is the gross income of the last 12 months divided by 365. The base is reduced in tiers and the benefit is 60 % of the result from day 15 to 30, 66 % from day 31 to 60 and 72 % from day 61 on. The daily amount is rounded up to whole crowns.

The 2026 reduction thresholds

  • Daily base: 90 % of the part up to 1,633 CZK, 60 % between 1,633 and 2,449 CZK, 30 % between 2,449 and 4,897 CZK, nothing above that. The highest possible benefit is 1,617 CZK a day.
  • Hourly earnings for employer compensation: 90 % up to 285.78 CZK, 60 % up to 428.58 CZK, 30 % up to 856.98 CZK.
  • Average hourly earnings are estimated as monthly salary divided by weekly hours times 4.348. The employer uses the previous quarter, so the figures can differ when pay fluctuates.
