Reading a QR code from a picture

Drop in a screenshot or a photo and the code is decoded straight away. It is the way to read a QR code you already have on screen — from an email, a PDF or a website — without pointing a phone at your own monitor.

The tool recognises what is inside and lays it out accordingly: a Wi-Fi login shows the network name and password, a contact card shows the fields, a link is shown in full so you can check the domain before opening it.

Decoding runs in your browser. The picture is never uploaded, which matters when the code holds a Wi-Fi password or a payment.

Why is it safer than scanning with a phone?

Because you see the target before anything opens. A phone camera app often jumps straight to the link, while here the address is written out and can be checked. Fake stickers over genuine codes are a common scam.

The code is not found. What now?

Crop the picture so the code fills most of it, and make sure the whole code including its white margin is visible. A blurred photo at an angle is the usual reason; a screenshot almost always works.

Can it read a Wi-Fi password?

Yes. Wi-Fi QR codes hold the network name, the security type and the password in plain text, and the tool shows all three. That is worth knowing before printing one for guests.

Which image formats work?

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP, up to 15 MB. A screenshot from any device is fine.
