What if I forget the password?
The document stays shut and we cannot help with that. This is real encryption, not a lock we could work around. Put the password in a password manager before you send the file on.

What does the “no printing” option do?
It writes into the document that it should not be printed. Well-behaved readers respect it, but it is a flag in the file, not a real barrier. Anyone who can open the document can always see the content.

Is it safe to type a password into a website?
Here it is, because the page has nowhere to send it. The encryption runs in your browser and neither the document nor the password reaches a server.

Will it crack a password I do not know?
No. Without the right password the document cannot be decrypted and there is no shortcut. The tool only strips the protection once you supply the password.

Why does it report an error when I have the password?
PDFs distinguish between the password that opens the document and the password that allows edits. Unlocking needs the first one. If the file opens without asking and only edits are locked, enter the permissions password.

How do I scan a document to PDF with my phone?
Photograph the pages in good light, upload them here in order and choose A4 with margins. The result looks like an ordinary scan.

Why do accented letters come out wrong?
The fonts built into PDF readers do not carry accents, so we fold them down to plain Latin letters: “VOID” stays “VOID”, but “INVÁLIDO” becomes “INVALIDO”.

Does a watermark protect the document from misuse?
It makes misuse harder, but it is no substitute for a password or an electronic signature. Treat it as a visual marking, not as security.

Why did my file barely shrink?
When a PDF is nothing but text there is little to squeeze, so the saving is a few per cent. The big wins come from scans and photographs.

How do I get a PDF under 2 MB for an upload form?
Start with the medium level. If that is not enough, go high, or remove the pages you do not need first.

What about accents and non-English characters?

Does it handle accented characters?
Yes. We embed the DejaVu font, which covers accents and most Latin-script languages, so “Página” or “Anhang” come out right. Only the characters you actually use are embedded, so the file barely grows.

Can the number go in the middle of the page or in the footer?
There are six positions, three at the bottom and three at the top. The distance from the edge is set in points, the unit PDFs are measured in: 28 points is roughly one centimetre.

Not from the finished file, the number is part of the page. Keep the original. If you need different settings, run the tool again on the untouched document.

Does it look exactly like PowerPoint?

Can I have two type sizes in one box?
Yes, each paragraph keeps its own style. Individual words inside a sentence share one style though: mixing weights mid-paragraph would mean writing our own text engine and the editor would get heavy. For one highlighted word, use a separate text box.

Does it do animations and slide transitions?
Yes. A slide can have a transition with a direction and a duration, and every object its own entrance. Both play while presenting and are written into the downloaded PPTX, so they work in PowerPoint too. Motion paths and exit effects are not supported yet.

What happens to a deck I open from PPTX?
Text with its paragraph formatting, images, shapes, tables, colours, transitions and object entrances all load. Formatting of individual words inside a paragraph is unified, and charts do not load. The original file is left untouched, the editor works on a copy in memory.

How large can the images be?
An ordinary phone photo fits. Bear in mind images also go into the browser's storage, which holds around five megabytes, so with bigger decks it is safer to download your work as you go.

Can it handle a large table?
The grid renders only the visible cells, so thousands of rows scroll smoothly. Bear in mind the workbook lives in the browser's memory though: for hundreds of thousands of rows a database is the better tool.

What can the editor not do?
Charts, pivot tables, conditional formatting and macros. Use Excel or LibreOffice Calc for those; a file from our editor opens in them normally.

Which decimal separator is used?
The English convention: a decimal point and a comma between thousands. When typing we accept both, so 1234.5 and 1 234,5 end up as the same number.

Not in PNG, JPG or WebP — those formats have no layers and the image is flattened into one. When you want to carry on later, save a project: it remembers the layers, the masks and their settings.

Does the editor open Photoshop files?
Not PSD. It opens the ordinary image formats — PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP — plus its own projects.

Can it handle big photos from a camera?
Yes, but your browser does the computing, so with shots of several tens of megapixels the brush can get noticeably slower. It helps to resize the image first to the resolution you actually need.

I only need to remove a background or blur something.
Single-purpose tools are quicker for that: background removal and blurring faces. The editor earns its keep when there are more edits and you want them under your control.

Do you store the images I open?
No. The image is opened in the memory of your browser tab and never sent anywhere. Closing the page loses it, so remember to download the result.

No. Tesseract is built for printed text. Handwritten notes come out right only by accident.

Why does the text have typos?
When confidence is low, a sharper scan, more contrast or the right language choice all help. Text with accents recognised using the English model comes out stripped of them.

No, the output is plain text. Columns and tables collapse into lines, so they usually need rebuilding by hand.

Does it work on an ordinary PDF with text?
It does, but there is no point. If the PDF already contains text (you can search it), use the PDF to Word tool, the result will be more accurate.

Why will HEIC not open on Windows?
Windows needs a paid codec from the Microsoft Store. Converting to JPG is the easier route, especially when you are sending the photo on.

Do I lose quality in the conversion?
A little. JPG is a lossy format. At 85% and above the difference is practically invisible, though the file will be larger than the original HEIC.

How do I turn HEIC off on the iPhone itself?

How do I get a photo under 2 MB?
Start at 75% quality and look at the resulting size. If it is still too big, go down five per cent at a time, or reduce the dimensions first.

Can anyone tell the photo has been compressed?
Above 80% quality, practically not. Below 60% blocky artefacts start showing up, mostly on smooth areas and around text.

Does the file keep its EXIF data?
No. The new photo has no metadata, so nothing reveals the location or the camera. For sharing that is usually a plus.

Does it handle PNG too?
Yes, but the output is always JPG, which gives far smaller files for photos. If you need to keep transparency, use the format converter.

What size should a photo be for a marketplace listing?
1200 px on the longer side is plenty. Marketplaces resize larger photos anyway, so uploading 6000 px only slows you down.

Does scaling down hurt quality?
Scaling down often improves it: detail is averaged out and noise disappears. Only enlarging is a problem.

Why was my image cropped?
Because the preset you chose has a fixed aspect ratio (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). To keep the whole photo, use custom pixels.

That is exactly what the background colour picker is for. Leave it white, or choose the colour the image will sit on.

For the web, yes. At the same quality it tends to be 25–35% smaller. For print or older software, JPG is the safer bet.

Does it open HEIC files from an iPhone?
HEIC has its own tool with a WASM decoder, browsers cannot open it on their own.

Why is the cut-out around hair imprecise?
Fine hair is the hardest case in segmentation. A photo with a more contrasting background and even lighting helps.

Which images work best?
Flat shapes with clearly separated colours: logos, icons, symbols and drawn illustrations. Photos with soft gradients can be converted too, but the result looks poster-like, broken into a handful of colour areas.

Why is the image scaled down before tracing?
Tracing works pixel by pixel; on a large image it would take a long time and add far more points than necessary. Scaling the longer side to 640 pixels speeds the computation up. The resulting SVG is a vector, so you can then enlarge it to any size without losing quality.

Can pixelation be undone?

Why is the result a PNG and not a JPG?

Lower the tolerance. A high value also clears shades close to the chosen colour that belong to the object. If a fringe is left instead, raise the tolerance a little or click the fringe colour to add it too.

Does it handle a complex background, like a landscape photo?
The tool works with colours, not shapes. On flat single-colour areas it is excellent; on a busy background with many colours it runs out of road. To cut an object out of a complicated scene, the background removal tool suits better.

Does editing hurt the photo quality?
No. The tool changes only the metadata part of the file and leaves the image untouched. Nothing is re-compressed.

Why does the thumbnail disappear when I save?
EXIF carries a small preview image and a proprietary block from the maker. Both contain internal offsets that would break when the metadata is rearranged, so we drop them on save. The camera, exposure and date fields stay.

Which formats does it handle?
JPG, PNG and WebP. EXIF with a location turns up most often in JPG. PNG usually carries only text captions (author, description, software), while WebP from a website mostly has nothing. Does the location data survive in the photo?

Why did my type not render?
An SVG refers to a font by name, and when the computer does not have it the browser substitutes another. The reliable fix is to convert text to curves in your graphics program (in Inkscape, “Object to Path”), so the letter shapes become part of the file.

Does it handle an SVG that links to an image?
Only if the image is embedded in the file as a data URL. A link to an external file is not loaded, for security reasons, and its place stays empty.

Do I still need favicon.ico at all?

Why is my transparent icon hard to see?
On a dark browser bar a dark mark blends into the background. If your logo has dark lines, turn transparency off and pick a light backdrop; the icon then reads in both themes.

Can I change the colours?

Is BMI reliable?
Only as a rough guide. It does not tell muscle from fat, so a muscular person can land in the overweight band while carrying very little fat. It also says nothing about where the fat sits, and waist measurement matters more for health than the index alone.

Not in this form. Children are assessed against percentile charts for their age, and in older people muscle loss shifts the result. The bands here are for adults.

Why does the tool refuse IIII?

How do I write zero or a negative number?

Larger numbers were written with a bar over the numeral, meaning a multiple of a thousand. That bar is used neither in ordinary text nor in school exercises, so we end at MMMCMXCIX.

What keyword density is right for SEO?
The main keyword usually sits between 1 and 3%. A higher share reads as over-optimised and both readers and search engines notice. Density is a hint, not a target: write for people first.

What is the difference between a character and a letter?
A character is anything at all, digits and punctuation included. Letters are only the letters, which is the number that matters when you are checking how much of the text is actual words.

Why leave out look-alike characters?

Why is my recording distorted after boosting it?

Why are the Windows voices not here?

Is the draw really random?
Yes. It uses crypto.getRandomValues, the same source used for generating keys. Nothing is stored, so no draw influences the next one.

Can I draw repeatedly?
As often as you like. Without removing the winner an entry can come up twice; with the box ticked each name wins at most once.

Does where the wheel stops decide the result?
No. The winner is drawn before the wheel starts moving and the animation is aimed at that slice. The spin is there for the audience, not for the maths.

Can I save the result?
Copy it to the clipboard with one button. Nothing is stored on our side, so reloading the page clears everything.

How many names can the list take?
Hundreds without trouble. On the wheel the slices get thin past about fifty names, so for a very long list the plain draw reads better.

Will a ZIP make my photos smaller?
Barely. JPEG, PNG, MP4 and MP3 are already compressed, so a ZIP saves a few per cent at best. It shines on text, spreadsheets and documents, where it can halve the size or better. For photos, use the image compression tool instead.

Can the archive be password-protected?
Not here. Encrypted ZIPs need a desktop program; this tool neither creates nor opens them.

How many files can it handle at once?
Dozens without a problem. Everything is packed in memory, so with several gigabytes the browser can run out of room; in that case pack the files in two or three batches.

Will the archive open on Windows?
Yes. It is an ordinary ZIP that Windows, macOS and Linux all open with no extra software.

What is each notation for?
HEX and RGB are for screens and CSS, HSL is the one to reach for when you want the same colour lighter or less saturated, and CMYK is the print notation. For print, treat the CMYK value as a starting point rather than gospel.

Why does CMYK from a screen not print exactly?
A screen mixes light, a printer mixes ink, and the two ranges do not fully overlap. Bright greens and deep blues in particular come out duller in print. The exact result depends on the paper and the printing profile.

Do you store the colours I pick?
No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.

How does the preview know which colour is which?
It sorts them by brightness and saturation. Text always ends up on a background it has enough contrast against, so the preview stays readable even with a bold palette.

Can I use the palettes for free?
Yes. A colour cannot be copyrighted and the palettes carry no licence. Take them into a commercial project without asking.

Can an IP address be hidden?
Not entirely: you have to have some address, otherwise there is nowhere to deliver the answer. You can replace it with someone else's by using a VPN or the Tor browser. Sites then see that service's address.

Why is this different from the address in my router?
The router shows the address on the local network (usually 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x), which only applies inside your home. Everything in the household leaves under one public address, and that is the one you see here.

Do you store my address?
No. We read the address from your request, sent it back and threw it away. The other details on the page (browser, resolution, time zone) were read in your browser and never reached us. The details are in the privacy policy.

Can I switch to another tab?
Yes. The stopwatch keeps measuring, only the display redraws less often. When you come back it shows the correct time.

Does the measured time survive closing the page?
No. Everything lives in the memory of the tab and nothing is stored, so closing the page clears the stopwatch and the laps. Copy the laps out before you leave.

How accurate is it?
The time comes from the browser's high-resolution clock, so it is accurate to the hundredth of a second. What it cannot account for is your reaction on the button.

Will I hear the beep if I close the page?
No. The countdown lives only in the open tab. You can leave it in the background, but not close it.

Can I pause the countdown?
Yes. Pause stops the clock and resume picks up where you left off. Reset returns the countdown to the length you set.

What is the countdown to a date for?
For long waits: to the end of a probation period, to a wedding, to a deadline. It shows days, hours, minutes and seconds.

Does it work on a phone?
Yes, but phones often suspend the tab once the screen goes dark. For long countdowns an alarm clock is the more reliable choice on mobile.

Is base64 encryption?
No. It is only another way of writing the same data, and anyone can read it back in a second. Do not use it to protect passwords, personal details or the contents of a contract.

Why did it mangle my accents?
Older tools work with bytes 0 to 255 and cannot cope with accented letters. Our encoder converts the text to UTF-8 first, so “ř”, “ñ” and emoji all survive the round trip untouched.

Can it handle an image or a file?
This tool works with text. With images only a limited size fits into a text box; for larger data a command-line tool is the better choice.

Do you send the data to a server?
No. Parsing and formatting both run in your browser, so you can paste in a response from an internal API. Nothing is stored or logged.

Why does sorting the keys change the order from the original?
Sorting is optional and exists for comparing two files: with the keys in the same order the differences are easier to spot. It has no effect on meaning, because key order carries no significance in JSON.

Can it handle a large file?
Ordinary API responses and config files, yes. At tens of megabytes the browser starts to crawl; for files that big a command-line tool is better.

Is the file uploaded to a server?
No. Your browser does the work and the file never leaves your computer. That is exactly why this tool suits documents you would never upload anywhere.

Can I protect passwords with a hash?
Not like this. Passwords need functions designed to be slow, with a salt on top: bcrypt, scrypt or Argon2. A plain SHA-256 of a password can be looked up in a dictionary in moments.

Why is my checksum different from the publisher's?
Usually it is a different algorithm, or the file downloaded corrupted or incomplete. Try downloading again and comparing once more, and check you have the same version of the file.

Are the generated UUIDs secure?
They come from the browser's cryptographically secure generator, not from Math.random. They are never sent anywhere and never stored, so only your computer has seen them.

Can I use one as a secret token?
Version 4 has 122 random bits, which is enough for a one-off link. Be careful with version 7: the creation time in it is readable, so it makes a poor secret.

What does a UUID of all zeros mean?
That is the nil UUID, used as “no value” where a column cannot be empty. The checker therefore treats it as valid.

Why is a space sometimes a plus and sometimes %20?
The plus comes from form submissions, while %20 belongs in the address itself. Most servers understand both, but in the path of a URL a plus stays a plus, not a space.

Is encoding the same as encryption?
It is not. The address stays readable, only written differently. It hides nothing from anyone looking at the link.

No, both the conversion and the breakdown run in your browser. Internal links are safe to paste in.
