or click to choose (.mp4, .mov, .webm, .mkv, .avi). Up to 100 MB per file.
A higher number means better sound and a larger file. For speech, 128 is plenty.
The picture is discarded and only the audio track remains. Handy for a lecture, a podcast or the music from a clip you filmed on your phone.
The video is processed in your browser, nothing is uploaded. The first run downloads about 32 MB of the computing core, after that everything runs without waiting. Longer files take a few minutes.

How to convert a video to MP3
Drop a video in, pick the sound quality and download the finished MP3. The picture is discarded and only the audio track remains. Your browser does the work, the file is never uploaded.
- 128 kbit/s: speech, a lecture, a podcast. The smallest file, and on speech you will not hear the difference.
- 192 kbit/s: a sensible baseline for music and mixed content.
- 320 kbit/s: the highest quality MP3 offers. Worth it only if the sound in the video was good to begin with.
Frequently asked questions
Does a higher quality improve the sound from the video?
No. A higher bit rate only preserves more faithfully what is already there. If the original track was compressed at 96 kbit/s, 320 will not get any more out of it.
Which video formats does it handle?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI up to 200 MB. A longer recording takes more time, because the audio is re-encoded on your own device.
Can I keep only part of the sound?
This tool extracts the whole track. If you need one section, trim the video first and then convert the result.
Does the file stay with you?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser; the video is never sent anywhere and nothing is left behind once you close the page.
