More about Adjust a photo

A quick photo fix

A dark shot from a party, washed-out colours, a picture with no punch: a couple of drags usually sorts it. Drop the photo in and move the sliders for brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness and warmth. The preview updates as you drag, so you can see where the edit is going. This is not Photoshop, it is “fix this photo” in a few seconds.

What each slider does

Brightness lifts or lowers the whole image, contrast pulls the lights and darks apart, saturation adds or removes colour. Sharpness picks out edges so the shot does not look soft, and warmth pushes the photo towards orange or towards blue, depending on the light it was taken in. You can go back to the original at any point. Everything is computed in your browser and the photo is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does editing cost quality?

The original file on your disk is never touched. The result is saved as a high-quality JPG.

How do I rescue a very dark photo?

Add brightness first, then contrast so the shot does not turn grey, and finish with a little saturation. Where the shadows are noisy, less sharpness helps more than more.

Do you send my photos anywhere?

No. The whole edit runs in your browser; the photo never leaves your device.
